IWC Watch

IWC watches have been manufactured by the International Watch Company in Switzerland since 1869. The International watch company was set up by Florentine Ariosto Jones, who opened a factory in Schaffhausen, Switzerland with the express purpose of making timepieces for export to America. Mr. Jones partnered up with Aaron Lufkin Dennison, an American who moved to Switzerland after the civil war. After many setbacks the company finally got of the ground.

IWC is an innovative watch company and one of their big breaks came during World War I when the company invented a movement called Calibre 52. This was a huge success with the military and soon another innovation was in the making. The military required a anti magnetic pilot's watch and soon another innovation the caliber 83 was launched. The calibre 83 was an oversized anti-magnetic pilots watch that filled the needs of the military.

IWC has continued to dominate the market with new innovative movements for their timepieces. IWC watches with their classic good looks and obvious quality are in a class by themselves.
